hey guys, i was takin some sunset shots with both my dslr and pointshoot, the point shots came out GREAT?
but the dslr shots came out plain looking..(if you know what i mean)
The sunset was beautiful and the point and shoot camera caught it JUST exactly the way it was, YET the dslr changed the image to a duller sky, and the sun rays’s disapeared on the shot????
so basically the sun rays stayed and looked great with the point and shoot but didnt with my dslr??
obviously im still beginner, and i use Pmode with my point and shoot (to control flash etc)
and with the dslr i use all different modes for whatever necessary..
dont get me wrong the shot was OK…
but it just came out nicer with the my canon ixus 95 (white balance-sunset)
the dslr is a canon 1000d
EDIT::: ill have to check if the canon 1000d has sunset mode, because this is what i used with the point and shoot and it came out beautifully..

If things are coming out better on your P&S than your DSLR, then you have not learned how to use the camera yet. ALL the modes do is choose a bunch of settings that are optimized for certain conditions. Once you know what is required in various situations, you will not need to rely on the modes, which are actually rather limiting. If you can’t get the shot that you want using the “appropriate” mode, you are stuck, because you don’ tknow how to change things. With a DSLR, you can change EVERYTHING to get what you want.
