Will a Canon Ixus give as good videos as a camcorder?
I have a Canon Ixus 60 camera, it seems to take good quality videos but do you think these are as good as a camcorder?
I could get a 4GB card and this would hold a 50 minute film.

Yes, Canon cameras are capable of taking some very nice quality ‘movies’. These are not quite as good as a DV camcorder…but are certainly more than good enough when viewing on your PC, TV…even good enough for YouTube.
You just have to make sure that you record your movies in the highest resolution…which is 640×480 at 30fps.
This will only give you 8 minutes of video per 1GB.
A high speed SD card is required (Sandisk Extreme III is excellent).
Your camera also has a ‘fast framerate’ mode at 60fps (320×240), but this is only necessary for very fast moving subjects.
BTW…your camera CANNOT accept a 4GB SD card…it will ONLY accept a maximum card of 2GB, so you will need to buy 2x2GB cards.
