A Woman’s Quick Guide On What To Wear For A Job Interview
A job interviewer often begins to assess you the minute you walk into the interview scene. That’s why it is very important to mind what you’ll be wearing. As they always say, first impressions last. And some interviewers won’t bother to find out more about you if you’re not dressed to impress.
A two-piece suit will make you look like a true professional. Go for plain fabric in black, brown, navy or dark gray. If you wish to wear something with prints, pick delicate weave or checkered patterns. A matching tailored top underneath the suit’s coat will complete your look.
If you’re planning on wearing a skirt, opt for something that’s a little below the knee in length. High slits are definitely a no-no. Some women find wearing pants much more beneficial, as they need not worry about accidentally exposing themselves before the interviewer. Pants should be tailored, and not as tight as a pair of jean skinny.
Keep jewelries and accessories to a minimum. Pick a stylish and conservative wrist watch. Avoid chunky and jingly bracelets, necklaces and earrings. It’s always a good idea to go for discreet items that go well with your suit. If you need to carry a bag or purse aside from your briefcase, keep it small and simple.
You should exude stylishness at a job interview. Although wearing a pair of stilettos or women’s brown boots also shows stylishness, it’s in a different direction. Wear closed toe shoes, with minimal designing. It’s okay to wear a flat pair. But if you wish to don something high-heeled, stick to those with 1′ or 2′ heels.
Practice walking in your shoes days before, especially if you bought them just for the interview. Tripping as you walk into the room sure is not really a pretty picture. It’ll also let you make adjustments should blisters or pressure on your toes show up after wearing them for some time.
It’s better to wear makeup than none at all. However, keep it minimal or conservative. Avoid showing up with long nails painted in extreme nail polish colors. Avoid wearing scents that are too sweet, tangy or anything too strong. Use in moderation eau de parfum spray, and go for subtle smelling ones.
If you look good on the outside, you will feel good about yourself and your confidence will shine through. For this reason, it’s important to plan and consider what you’ll be dressed in for a job interview. A potential employer will also base your caliber on what you’re wearing.
