The original novel based on a vampire romance which was written by Stephanie Meyer was an instant best seller after it was published in 2005 and was the largest selling book of 2008 and sold more than 17 million copies across the world. This is a great achievement considering 14 agents rejected the original book! But could even Meyer have imagined how big the success of the films and subsequent twilight dvd sets might be?
The film adaptation of Twilight hit our screens in December 2008 with Robert Pattinson playing the lead role of the not so blood thirsty vampire Edward Cullen, Kristen Stewart as leading female Bella Swan and Taylor Lautner as Jacob “soon to be werewolf” Black. The film was a massive success and audiences waited with baited breath for the release of the twilight film on dvd in the early part of 2009. New Moon the second film in the series quickly followed and emulated the massive success of the first film with the DVD release again closely following solidifying this saga as must see DVDs for all those fantasy film fans. New Moon is the fatest selling DVD of 2010 so far.
The third film in the saga Eclipse was released in the uk on 30th June 2010 grossing $262 million in its first five days of release and the Twilight third DVD Eclipse is no doubt going to be the biggest selling DVD for Christmas in 2010. the Twilight Eclipse DVD is now ready for pre-ordering plus with the first part of the finale of the Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn, which will hit cinema screens on 18th November this year, Christmas sales for the twilight dvds will certainly be hitting the record books.
The great thing about the Twilight films is they completely draw you in whether you are watching in the cinema or on DVD it doesn’t matter and you simply cannot wait for the next one to be released and you do not have to wait long either. Twilight really shines as it does not keep fans waiting.
