What is the different between LED and LED LCD display?
I wonder what the different of it.
i see in display catalogue, i found 3 type of display names.
LCD, LED and LED LCD.
what i understand is
LED – Light-emitting diode
LCD – Liquid crystal display
completely different things…
so, what makes it different?
LED (light emitting diode) and LCD (liquid crystal display) screens sound fundamentally different on the surface. In reality though, both displays are liquid crystal displays, according to a review published on Lcdtvbuyingguid.com. The real difference is in the backlighting.
Backlighting
1. Standard LCD displays are backlit using fluorescent lighting. LED displays use light emitting diodes to provide the backlighting.
Color
2. In situations where the LCD and LED displays are both using white backlighting, the color display is equivalent. LED displays using color LEDs produce better color.
Sunlight
3. Murata Power Solutions notes that if the display is going to be viewed in sunlight, LCD displays will retain better properties than LED displays that become washed out in sunlight.
Contrast
4. The review on Lcdtvbuyingguide.com offers that LED displays provide better contrast because the LED backlighting can be turned off behind the black areas on the screen. LCD displays will always have some degree of backlighting to interfere with contrast.
Angled Viewing
5. Both Murata Power Solutions and the review appearing on Lcdtvbuyingguide.com agree that LED displays are more easily viewed at an angle than LCDs.
