5 mp camera vs. 4 mp camcorder?
I am VERY low on money but want to take pics of my kids while they’re still young, you know? I found a 5 mp camera and a 4 mp camcorder, but don’t know which one to get. They’re both factory refurbished and about the same price. The camcorder does take still pics too, but the resolution is slightly lower.
The description for the camcorder says: Resolution: 2.0 Megapixel / 4.0 Megapixel (interpolated)….What does that mean? It’s listed as a 4 mp camcorder but it seems to give two different resolutions.
Also, is there any way to store video clips online for free, besides youtube or whatever? I know that there are free photo storage sites but I don’t really know any that will let you store or share video.
What’s your opinion of the mpeg4 format? That’s what the camcorder has.
So is it better to have any sort of camcorder period, or would you take the camera since it has a slightly higher resolution?

I’m surprised to find any 5 megapixel camera that doesn’t offer video, too. THe video is limited, no matter what the megapixels are. Video is standardized at 0.3 megapixel (640 x 480), no matter what the hype says.
For still pictures, you’ll never really see the difference between 4 and 5 megapixel unless you’re printing 8 x 10 glossies.
Still, for being the same price, I’d lean toward the 5 megapixel. I’m certain it has some video capability in it. But for either camera, the video isn’t great. For good video, you need a separate camcorder.
