Lexmark s1625 – A Powerful Printer You’ll Love
The Lexmark s 1625 printer is a generally good quality laser printer from a well-respected leader in the industry that was listed 5th in Fortune Magazine’s list of America’s most admired companies for computer peripherals. Nearly twenty years after the company separated from IBM, it now makes about 5 billion dollars in revenue every year and it is now very common to see their products throughout offices around the US and the world–about half of their revenue comes from outside the United States. They also make the amazing S 1625 printer toner cartridge.
This Lexmark printer is a black and white laser printer that is meant to be an affordable option for small business users and other more casual printers. It isn’t the fastest printer you can buy by a long shot, but it has a duty cycle of 65,000 words which is respectable. Some companies could push a limit like this, but it is most likely that a small business will be safe within this parameter.
It is also reasonably sized and not so heavy for the poor owner who can’t afford some tech support guy to install the printer for her. It stands about only a foot high and just over a foot wide. The depth is of about 19 inches. At about 42 pounds, it’s weighty but not too impossible to move around the office.
The print quality is good. If you are printing a presentation, you will appreciate the professional quality that completely fills pie charts. The 1200 DPI (dots per inch) resolution will probably be more than you require for the projects this printer was designed for. If your operation is still using Inkjet printers, then the superior laser printing technology will improve you professionalism and create cleaner documents.
This printer suffers from a slightly slow print speed, however. It prints at a speed of about 16 pages per minute. If you demand a large output from your printer, or if your livelihood depends on how fast you can get your documents printed, this may not do it for you. Most small business users will be satisfied with what this printer can deliver, however. Another limitation to consider is that this printer only prints standard-sized paper. There is an optional envelope feeder available, however. Before you buy it. check to make sure you can find one if you need it.
This printer comes with a decent price tag, however. While it was pricey at one time, it now comes refurbished at around 250 dollars on many online retailers. It is out of active production, so it is easier to find these printers sold refurbished. The price is decent for a reliable printer, however, reported to be great at avoiding jams and printing smooth lines and graphics.
There are two types of toner available for this printer: standard and high capacity. The high capacity Lexmark S 1625 printer cartridge can be a little more pricey, but I discovered that the extra money is more than made up for by the drastic increase in capacity–the standard type prints 7,500 pages and the high-capacity version prints 17,500.
You can still find this printer online pretty readily, along with this S 1625 toner cartridge , although the printers themselves are usually refurbished now. If you want a decent printer designed for the small-business user at a lower price, then this printer might work for you. If you want more than this printer offers, sadly, you will probably be paying more.
