Canon G12 | The Newest Powershot Feature
Ferrari get updated every few years. Equally, Canon’s “G” series cameras point-and-shoot. Last year we tested the G11 and loved it a lot, but it still has a number of deficiencies, especially lack of high-def video recording. The company corrected the problem with the G12 a new 10-megapixel digital camera, the Canon PowerShot G12 replaces the PowerShot seeded G11 just a little more than a year following the previous release. The G11 get a warm welcome at the launch, and Canon G12 offer a lot of exciting new features over its predecessor., G11 – 10 megapixel CCD sensor, 2.8″ screen LCDvariabel-angle, 5x, 28-140mm equal zoom lens, RAW image capture, optical viewfinder, 4.2fps burst mode, flash hotshoe, 1centimeter macro mode, ISO 80-3200 and full range of manual shooting modes. Brand new additions to the G12 include 720p HD video recording, a front control dial, hybrid image stabilisation system, multi-aspect shooting, High Dynamic Range mode, an electronic level, SDXC card compatibility and an optional Lens Filter Adapter.
Canon G12 also features stereo sound courtesy of microphones positioned either side of the flash hotshoe and you could use the Miniature creative filter during recording to spice up your footage. Regrettably the 5x optical zoom is still disabled when filming, though a 4x digital version can be deployed.
The Canon G12 feels very well made, with a layout that while busy avoids looking cluttered, and controls that both offer just the right amount of stiffness and resistance. Unlike the other, they are also big enough to be easily and quickly accessed in the heat of the action. With its beefy design, as with its predecessors the G12 won’t fit into a trouser or shirt pocket like the latest IXUS, even if you have a deep-pocketed coat you’ll be all right.
PowerShot G12 is an awesome digital camera to learn on, and it’s a fantastic companion to a DSLR-wielding pro. The flexibility of a camera like this is outstanding, from the picture quality, to the stellar manual controls, down to the power-packed fit and finish of this formidable brick. The Canon PowerShot G12 might not be as portable, offer a high quality LCD resolution, or specialize in an advanced video mode, but it accomplishes the most important thing, and that’s the ability to take excellence pictures without having to swap out a lens, then the G12 is a wonderful preference.
