My window air conditioner has water in the pan when the fan starts up; should I drill a small hole?
I noticed that my 7000 BTU LG window unit has a small rubber plug on the bottom of the pan that appears to be spring loaded. What is this for; some sort of thermostatic valve? There is a lot of water in the pan and I can hear the fan swish the water when it starts up. Should I drill a small hole in the pan to drain???
I agree w/ bandett, maybe, maybe not . Some of the newer mdls. use the condensate for add’l cooling, but being that there is a spring loaded plug I would say probably don’t drill a hole. Just use the plug to drain the unit when not used for an extended period of time or for seasonal shut down to avoid bacterial growth
