I got answers previously saying I needed to change the ram slots, please tell me which part in the above document I need to alter to increase the ram slots. As I am relatively computer illiterate, plus let me know if the price is worth it, please note it is AUS dollar.
Good setup, but no use for playing intensive games on. If you want to get the latest games running on your system, you’d need a bare minimum of a 512MB dedicated Radeon HD Graphics chip set, or equivalent. I’d suggest having more than one graphics card in SLI configuration so they can share the workload between them. To get the most out of games, I’d suggest having about 1.0GB of dedicated graphics, with at least 4GB of VRAM (Video RAM).
Your memory is becoming outdated, I’d suggest getting DDR3, 1066MHz or faster (you can get 1333MHz and beyond too I believe.) DDR3 is less power hungry and more efficient than DDR2. You’d need about 4GB MINIMUM to play most games, but I’d suggest getting 8GB to future proof yourself, although if your computer only has two or three memory banks this will be costly, find a mother board which support four memory banks, then just buy 4 x 2GB sticks which won’t cost you a great deal.
Your hard drive is fine, 1.5 TB at 7200-RPM is plenty.
Windows 32-bit limits you to 3.2GB of RAM, even if you have 4GB or beyond installed. Only 64-bit systems address memory in excess of 3.2GB, so a 64-bit OS is essential.
Your DVD drive is fine, and your audio seems fine too.
If you’re not into gaming, that system is very good.
If you want to go for gaming, I’d suggest an Intel Core i5 or i7 chip at about 2.40GHz or 2.66GHz for a great experience.
